How to Host a Lore Board Party
A themed gathering where guests explore myths, monsters, and legends of the Pacific Northwest through food, stories, and ambiance.
1. Pick Your Theme
Choose an overarching lore theme to guide the night:
- Cryptids of the Northwest (Sasquatch, Devil's Lake Monster, Bear Lake Monster)
- Global Legends (Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, Chupacabra, Kitsune)
- Folklore Beasts & Spirits (dragons, banshees, kelpies, fairies)
2. Food Format: The Lore Board
Each guest brings a board of food and/or drinks tied to their monster.
Guidelines:
- Include both savory + sweet elements.
- Play with colors, textures, and shapes that nod to the creature.
- Optional: Add a prop or mini sign with the monster’s name + a pFriem beer pairing.
3. Assign Subcategories
Give each guest a monster or legend to inspire their board.
Examples:
- Sasquatch → a towering “forest feast board” with smoked meats, mushrooms, and berries paired with a pFriem Pilsner.
- Devil’s Lake Monster → a “tentacled depths board” with twisted breadsticks, black bean dip, sharp cheeses, and spicy red pepper jelly paired with a pFriem IPA.
- Bear Lake Monster → a “lake & forest board” with smoked trout dip, venison sausage, berries, nuts, and honeycomb paired with a pFriem Lager.
Tip: Share short lore blurbs so guests know their creature’s backstory.
4. Set the Atmosphere
Decor: Candles, lanterns, fake moss, vintage maps, folklore books.
Soundtrack: Forest sounds, campfire crackling, eerie playlists.
Activities:
- Storytelling round (2-min monster tales).
- Lore trivia or Fact vs. Folklore.
- Costume/prop challenge (e.g., “wear something your monster left behind”).
Closing Ritual: A toast “to the legends that live among us.”
5. Extras
Voting: Most Believable Board, Scariest Snack, Lore-liest Presentation.
Photo Spot: Cabin or forest-themed backdrop
Take-Home: Dragon scales candy, Sasquatch trail mix, or other lore treats.
