Assistant General Manager

About the role

This is a full time, salaried role, and reports to our General Manager. In this role you will play a key part in the day-to-day success of the Tasting Room by ensuring our employees deliver the outstanding guest experience that pFriem Family Brewers is known for. We are looking for a leader that is experienced, organized, and passionate about creating a thriving work environment for our employees.

For the right candidate, we are also open to training you to ultimately be our General Manager in our upcoming location in Milwaukie. You’d serve as our Assistant GM in Hood River and then in early 2025 we’d discuss having you help us manage our Milwaukie location.

A breakdown of your tasks:

  • Supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations including overseeing all staff, hiring, and ensuring proper scheduling.
  • Ensures excellent guest service that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Operates the business in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for ordering beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and other related supplies.
  • Ensures scheduling of monthly beer and food schools for staff.
  • Actively involved in hiring, training employees, and all human resource activities.
  • Manages shifts, which include daily decision-making, staff support, and planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
  • Enforces safe work behaviors to maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff members.
  • Maintains professional behavior while creating a warm, fun, friendly, and hospitable atmosphere.
  • Responsible for updating plans for training and development of staff.
  • Ensures staff are complying with workplace safety, OLCC and Health Department regulations.
  • Monitors daily activities to ensure quality food and cleanliness standards.
  • Bastion for Tasting Room cleanliness and maintenance.

Work in the Tasting Room can be dynamic, no matter how well we plan, and how good our team is but you keep a cool head regardless of the situation at hand. You know how to address personnel and guest issues appropriately while maintaining a positive attitude. You know how to ask for help and how to manage tasks and emotions when it’s go-time.

Your qualifications

  • 3-5 years of management experience in higher-end gastropub or similar establishment.
  • Must be flexible with working hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Appropriate food and alcohol licensing.
  • Passion and knowledge of craft beer, food, and hospitality.
  • Basic computer skills, and Microsoft Office Suite competency required.
  • Self-motivated and able to maintain a fast pace of work.
  • Able to solve problems calmly.
  • Team player who has the ability to motivate and lead fairly.
  • Experience managing events.
  • Solid references are a must.

The location

You get to work in one of the most stunning locations in the PNW! pFriem is located at the Hood River Waterfront Park with epic views of the Columbia River Gorge. Mt. We are also looking for folks who would be interested in being a General Manager for our Milwaukie location starting in early 2025.
