pFriem’s Kettle Soured Passionfruit Pale takes a new American approach to brewing a Pale Ale. Hearty amounts of new American and new German fruit forward hops are used in this beer. This beer is also kettle-soured for 20 hours with a mix of Lactobacilli to develop acidity and then fermented with our American Ale Yeast. Before the beer is finished copious amounts of passionfruit puree were added to this beer. The brightness of the fruity hops, the tart and tanginess from the kettle souring, combined with the rich and juiciness of the passionfruit creates a hop forward, very juicy beer, balanced with a wallop of acidity and just enough bitterness.
Hazy sunburst rays of gold sit below a lacey white foam. Vibrant tropical aromas of guava nectar, papaya, passionfruit, and kiwi jump out of the glass. Round and juicy flavors of tropical punch, strawberry, fresh cut pineapple, and white wine fill the palate. This beer finishes bright, tart, and tangy while being sweet, but dry.
Mexican food, sweet and sour flavors found in Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. White fish such as halibut, rock cod, and Dungeness crab. Fruit such as chutney can play off the fruitiness of the beer.
